A Poem

I love I love I love I love I love
I love only sometimes
When the blue moon peeks over the edge of the world in the depths of my heart where nobody goes
When the earth is a-thrum with the thrum of the split in the seam of the world from which fly the cicadas
When the cosmos align in the roll of the dice and the stain of the wine on the table of time
But when I love
I love I love I love I love I love
I love to the x and the y and the z and the sun of the grid that the fates use to clip short the threads
I love to the depths of the sea in the dark of the night on the cusp of the flood that gives birth to the gods

And then I stop.
And I turn.
And I stare.

At the whited-out waste at the edge of the world in the depths of my heart where somebody went

And I lock up the key.
And I go and I hide.
And I vow it won’t happen again.
And I don’t love.
love love love love love

And I try to forget that somebody went where the blue moon could see at the edge of the world in the depths of my heart where nobody goes

Unanswered Pleas

Dance with me, dear friend
Let your losses and loves conspire against the dark
Shed the narrow hide of your hedonistic pain
Upon the pent-up world inscribe your mark
Dream on, dream free, dream right
Like water, rise in silence fall in thunder
Oh selfish servant to Gravity’s hoax
Mount your throne, proclaim your splendor
Slip within the fairy ring
Take my hand, dear friend, once more
I only beg of you, you tearful wretch
Leave your Atlas’ shackles by the shore

Artist’s Taboret Gift

For Christmas, my mom got me an artist’s taboret. It is blue.

I cannot emphasize enough how useful this has been already.

Taboret:
-noun
A small, usually portable stand, cabinet, or chest of drawers, as for holding work supplies.

Besides functioning as storage for the supplies that have in the past been overflowing onto my desk, dresser, and floor, this piece of furniture encites me to paint more. It functions as a surface to hold my new easel and light as well as having a glass pane on the center surface that I can use as a palette. It’s a lot easier to use the materials stored within easy reach than to hunt down everything I need and a lot more comfortable painting sitting in a chair or standing up than crouching on the floor.

Thank you to my mom and a belated merry Christmas to everyone else!
